人は何を求め、何のために｢塔｣へと登るのか――。
80年の時を越え、ウルク国に再び現れたドルアーガの塔。
仲間と共に最上階を制した登頂者ジルを待っていたのは、信じていたカーヤの手ひどい裏切りだった。
謎の目的を胸に秘めるニーバと共に｢幻の塔｣へと消えていくカーヤ。ジルは失意とともに、最下層へと流されていく。
カーヤは何を求めていたのか。自分は何を望んでいるのか。
生きる気力を失い、答えのない問いを抱えたまま時を過ごすジル。
だが、彼の目の前に謎の少女カイが現れ、運命は再び動き始める。
｢私を塔のてっぺんまで連れて行って｣失われたはずの願いを胸に、ジルは再び登頂者となって果てなき塔の冒険に挑む。
